Blownapart Studios is a small group of filmmakers located in and around Redding CA that are trying to take over Hollywood one explosion at a time. We are currently working on a couple of projects in coordination with a group of students at University Preparatory School in a video production club called "The Nerd Theater" or TNT. Blownapart Studios is currently available for commercial projects. Just send us an email in the contact form.
The main members of Blownapart Studios:
Michael Poole graduated from Cogswell University in 2002 with a BA in computer and video imaging and a concentration in character animation. Although Mike is a good animator, a phenomenal artist and has spent extensive hours in the study of framing, movement, and effects work, he soon realized that he had stories to tell, and to do that within the scope of his imagination, he needed to direct. If you talk with Mike for any length of time you will notice his overwhelming passion for one thing, good visual storytelling. Whether he's scouring the web for a review on the latest lens or camera rig, combing through all the screenwriting and filmmaking forums, or tearing through his extensive library of books and movies, Mike remains firmly focused on three important issues, Story, Story and um... Story. These three issues are by far the most important and often times the most overlooked aspect of any filmmaking project. But not here. Not with Mike. Ask Mike about any kind of award or recognition and he might kick you a quote from Dale Earnhardt Jr. "Yes, it would improve my overall awesomeness."
Steven Bailey is a master craftsman/ designer in wood, steal, aluminum, and adamantium who spent eight years building custom houses and five years as an "on the ground" working general contractor. With this solid construction background and a love for photography and videography, he has built and is currently designing many of the tools we use for dollies, stabilization, reach and lighting. He is currently designing a telescoping arm for ultra fine pushes and minor crane work. He is also both a rabid( I mean avid) poet and songwriter and is currently working on a number of writing projects including feature scripts as well as short film projects. In addition Steven fronts a band called The Midnight Sunrise, who together with Matt Drake and Sean Patrick Murphy are working on getting out their first album by the mid year. In conjunction with their own album TMS is also working on the music for the upcoming Blownapartstudios project "Nerd High" and are excited about the direction it is taking. Steven was once quoted as saying. "Spandex pants are the bane of all civilized existence. Lets get this thing shot before we all go blind"
Cory Poole teaches math and science at University Preparatory School in Redding, California. He graduated from University of Maryland, College Park in 2006 with a Master's degree in Physics and from California State University Chico, in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in Physics and Applied Mathematics. With his extensive knowledge of science and mathematics, Cory is able to design nearly anything, even large scale fractals to be built out of Doritos! Cory started up and is currently co-adviser of The Nerd Theatre (TNT) a group of students at UPrep that Blownapart studios is working with on its next project "Nerd High". Cory likes to tell good math jokes such as the following, "Question: Why is it impolite to use the number 288 in public? Answer: Because it is 2 Gross!"
